Prescription Help

Q.Need a refill?
A.
Best:
Call your pharmacy first – this is the fastest way to get a refill: Most of our prescriptions have refills on them and you simply need to tell the pharmacist “I am ready for my refill. “Even if you don’t have refills at the pharmacy, they will take over and they will fax us a request (which is also faster than calling our office because the pharmacy request already has all the information pre-filled on it).Next Best:
If you prefer to contact us directly, then please fill out form below. This is better than a phone call because:

  • it creates a ticket that is tracked by our staff to completion –
  • and you can check on your ticket at anytime and communicate with the same staff member each time
  • If you call the office to follow up on a prescription – a different staff member may answer the phone

Of course you can always call:
If you prefer to call, you will always get a live person (no phone tree) during business hours954-987-7512.

Q.Prescription Not Covered or Too Expensive?
A.
Best:
Price shop at GoodRx.com

  • Enter the prescription name and your zip code and GoodRx will find the lowest CASH prices at local pharmacies
  • Sometimes the cash price is lower than the “with your insurance” price that the pharmacy gives you – If this is the case (and affordable) you can simply skip the insurance and fill the prescription at the cheapest pharmacy listed on GoodRx.

See this video for tips on using GoodRx

Contact us using the form below. This is better than a phone call because:

  • it creates a ticket that is tracked by our staff to completion –
  • and you can check on your ticket at anytime and communicate with the same staff member each time
  • vs. calling the office and a different staff member may answer the phone each time you call

Of course you can always call:
If you prefer to call, you will always get a live person (no phone tree) during business hours954-284-0087.

Please tell the staff members who answers the exact name of the prescription and the exact cost you were quoted at the pharmacy

Tip – If a prescription is not covered by your insurance – ask the pharmacist to send us alternatives that ARE covered by your insurance (and then we can just pick one that is similar). The pharmacy has more access to this information than we do. And this saves time by avoiding the common scenario where we change the medication to a second med that your insurance also won’t cover.

Q.Need Specialty Pharmacy Phone Numbers?
A.
What is a “specialty pharmacy”?

These are typically mail-order pharmacies that specialize in certain prescription meds:

  • Some specialize in Dermatology prescriptions
  • Some specialize in very expensive “biologic” medications
  • Some specialize in generic drugs and some specialize in certain branded drugs.

Why and when do we use them?

We only use these pharmacies when either 1 – a patient cannot get the prescription at a reasonable price at their local pharmacy, or 2 – we know that a certain prescription almost always has issues (price or otherwise) at local pharmacies.

We also only use specialty pharmacies where:

  • The price is “capped” at a reasonable price (even if medication is “not covered” or patient is “cash pay”)
  • Their workflow makes it easy for patient to fill their prescription (no “prior auths” and no “rejections” where patient does not receive the medication or prescription gets “kicked back” to be changed.)

Q.Have Accutane questions?
A.

How do I recover my lost iPledge password?
Please call iPledge at 1-866-495-0654Is the generic for Accutane okay?
Yes. In fact everyone gets the “generic isotretinoin” because the brand Accutane has not been manufactured for many years.
For some reason isotretinoin has only “branded” generics with various names like Claravis, Amnesteem, Zenatane, Sotret, and Myorisan… not sure why they have their own names but they all seem to work.

What if my Accutane prescription is too expensive or not covered?
Call our office and we will send your prescription to a mail-order specialty pharmacy. (Our preferred pharmacy sometimes changes as pricing changes – but we usually have a good affordable option to recommend.)
