PRP (A.K.A. The “Vampire Facial”)

Micro-Needling with PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) aka “The Vampire Facial”
First off, don’t let the nickname fool you. This innovative treatment is not painful or scary, and produces great results by using the body’s own bio-compatible nutrients. In addition to targeting the skin issues that traditional micro needling addresses, using PRP can also create a plumping effect in aging skin.

What is PRP?
PRP is plasma taken from a patient’s blood. It contains highly concentrated amounts of nutrients and natural growth factors that promote new levels of collagen and elastin.

How it Works
An MA or Nurse Practitioner in our office will first obtain a blood sample from you. The blood is then placed in a centrifuge for 15 minutes. This separates the plasma – a gooey, clear substance – from the blood.

The plasma is then poured into a syringe. Our esthetician will apply this all over your face. After the micro needling procedure with the pen, she will apply it again to the skin, for extra stimulation of collagen and elastin production through the healing process.

Treatment Time and After Effects
It will take 20 minutes to collect and spin your blood. The Micro-needling procedure will then take 40 minutes.

Your skin will be pink and feel sunburned for a few days, which you can treat with topical lotion. For most patients, your skin completely recovers in 24-72 hours. Your skin will heal and create healthy new collagen over the next two months, so you will continue to see improvements over time.

PRP to Encourage Hair Growth
Think of it as nutrient-rich food for the hair! PRP can be used to encourage hair growth for eyebrows and along the hairline.

For growth on spot-specific areas of the scalp, a Doctor will target the area with an injection of PRP, rather than use the Skin Pen.
