What is PRP a.k.a. the “Vampire Facial”?
PRP is plasma taken from a patient’s blood. It contains highly concentrated amounts of nutrients and natural growth factors that promote new levels of collagen and elastin.
How Does PRP Treatment Work?
An MA or Nurse Practitioner in our office will first obtain a blood sample from you. The blood is then placed in a centrifuge for 15 minutes. This separates the plasma – a gooey, clear substance – from the blood.
The plasma is then poured into a syringe. Our esthetician will apply this all over your face. After the micro-needling procedure with the pen, she will apply it again to the skin, for extra stimulation of collagen and elastin production through the healing process.
What is the Recovery Time for PRP Treatment?
It will take 20 minutes to collect and spin your blood. The Micro-needling procedure will then take 40 minutes.
Your skin will be pink and feel sunburned for a few days, which you can treat with topical lotion. For most patients, your skin completely recovers in 24-72 hours. Your skin will heal and create healthy new collagen over the next two months, so you will continue to see improvements over time.
