Electrosurgery:

| • | mnemonic – “damping” is like sopping up the blood |
Margins:
| • | BCC (lesion <2cm) - margins of 4mm |
SCC:
| • | <2cm and low risk area - 4mm margin |
| • | <1cm and high risk area - 4mm |
| • | >2cm and and low risk - 6mm |
| • | >1cm and high risk area - 6mm |
(high risk areas = ears, nose, eyelids, lips)
Skin Grafts:
| • | full-thickness - contracts after removal from donor site |
| • | split-thickness - contracts during healing |
Prophylactic Antibiotics:
| • | 1st generation cephalosporin 2g PO X 1 |
| • | OR dicloxacillin 2g PO X 1 |
| • | OR clindamycin 300mg PO X 1 |
Hemostasis:
| • | gel foam: one can close a wound over the gel foam |
