•splinter hemorrhages, conjunctival petechiae

•painless, macular lesions on the palms and soles in subacute bacterial endocarditis
•embolic organism

•(pain may be explained by the involvement of the glomus body in the fingertip)
•painful nodules on the pads of the fingers and toes in SBE
•+/- emboli

 

 

 

vs. Acute Bacterial Endocarditis:

•septic emboli (see organisms on biopsy)
•staph aureus
