| • | pathogenesis = increased ratio of saturated to unsaturated fat (therefore higher solid phase temperature; makes sense: lard vs. vegetable oil) |
histology:
| • | distinctive changes: adipose cells containing needle-shaped clefts in radial array (crystals) |
| • | unlike subcutaneous fat necrosis of the newborn, there is very little inflammation |
