AKA oral epithelial nevus
rare autosomal dominant disorder
the buccal mucosa is always involved

 

differential diagnosis:

leukoedema (is non-hereditary, is patchy rather than diffuse, and the white spongy changes to the mucosa disappear upon stretching)
pachyonychia congenita and dyskeratosis congenita have a later onset and are associated with hair and nail changes
oral focal epithelial hyperplasia
