•autosomal dominant
•most common inherited PPK
•well demarcated with erythematous border
•no transgradiens;   symptom = hyperhidrosis
•striate and punctate forms occur
•histology = orthokeratosis
•tx:  five percent salicylic acid
•acitretin or isotretinoin may be considered; however need for lifetime treatment makes them impractical because of bone toxicity

 

Vorner variant:

•keratin 9
•histology = epidermolytic hyperkeratosis
•most patients with Vorner histology
