clinical:
| • | usually acral and orificial, but may be annular and scaly on trunk |
| • | glossitis is a common and often severe feature, producing a beefy red tongue |
| • | most patients are ill at presentation with weight loss |
| • | other features: angular cheilitis, diarrhea, glucose intolerance |
| • | ddx: acrodermatitis enteropathica (essentially identical clinically and histologically) |
treatment: amino acid, zinc, and essential fatty acid supplementation has improved the eruption
