| • | lesions may be densely grouped in a lichenoid fashion or may show a linear arrangement |
| • | dorsa of the hands and fingers, the axillary folds, and the external surface of the arms and legs |
| • | coalescence of the papules on the face, particularly in the glabella area, results in longitudinal folding, giving the appearance of leonine facies |
| • | ddx: (other deposition diseases) lichen amyloid, colloid milium (? juxtaclavicular beaded lines, hamartoma moniliformis??) |
| • | usually an IgG with lambda light chains |
| • | is not a plasma cell dyscrasia |
| • | no association with multiple myeloma (paraprotein of multiple myeloma is usually a monoclonal IgG with kappa light chains) |
| • | mnemonic = PML (papular mucinosis with lambda light chains) |
| • | scleromyxedema: a clinical variant of papular mucinosis in which the disease is more generalized and is accompanied by erythema and sclerosis |
