| • | WBC may be >40 with lymphocytosis and atypical lymphocytes |
| • | avoid abdominal trauma for 6 months to prevent possible rupture of enlarged spleen |
clinical:
| • | only 3-15% develop a morbilliform eruption indistinguishable from that of other viral exanthems |
| • | also appears if patient is given ampicillin |
| • | headache, malaise, fever, sore throat (80%), cervical or generalized LAN, petechiae of the hard and soft palate |
| • | throat culture rules out strep pharyngitis |
