two diagnostic test for scaly hands (Dr. Fisher "rule"):

•KOH
•patch test

 

Treatment:

•Intact vesicles – benzoyl peroxide (per Stuart Brown)
•Tetrix cream
•Cracked hands – glycerin (buy at whole foods)
•use liquid bandage (or even superglue) for cracks
•Keralac ointment and Temovate ointment BID helps (use them together)
•bexarotene gel (not practical at $1600/ 60g tube)
•compound: 50:50 white wax:petrolatum for hands at night

Hyperkeratotic dermatitis of the palms:

•no vesicles
•well-demarcated
•fissures
•treatment - Soriatane = drug of choice, Krazy glue the cracks

 

Houseperson's eczema:

•between fingers
•= irritant vs. allergic contact dermatitis
•treatment - topical steroids
