ostraceous | latin: oyster – to describe heaped-up scaling such as sometimes occurs in lesions of psoriasis (or in rupioid syphilis) |
papular urticaria | lesions with the appearance of small insect bites |
patulous | granuloma faciale lesions are red/brown papules, plaques or nodules that have patulous follicular ostia |
pedunculated
pendulous
pointing | a carbuncle is a deep folliculitis affecting many follicles with many areas of pointing |
serrated (or feathered) margins | e.g. in nevus depigmentosus |
sessile | having no stalk (vs. pedunculated) |
stippled
thready, rolled edge
vegetative | heaped up collection of scale and crust on the skin surface |
wheal | represents a variation on the papules or plaques in which the cause of the lesions is dermal edema; no epidermal change; often have central pallor |
