Treatment:
| • | terbanifine less active against Candida spp. in vitro; however clinical studies show otherwise |
| • | treatment of choice = fluconazole (Diflucan) |
| • | nystatin covers candida only (and not dermatophytes) |
| • | Candida Intertrigo: Diflucan 150mg PO Qweek X 2 – 4 weeks (I usually give 150mg x 1 dose one time only, along with a topical) |
| • | Candidal Vaginitis: Diflucan 150mg PO X 1 |
| • | Candida onychomycosis - fluconazole is administered 50 mg daily for 6 weeks or as pulse therapy in a dose of 300 mg weekly for 6 weeks |
