LASER VEIN THERAPY
A precise dosage of light (laser) energy is delivered to each vein, in a series of brief pulses. The light is absorbed by the blood vessels, but not the surrounding tissue. This heat absorption causes a coagulation of the blood vessel, which is then absorbed by the body.
SCLEROTHERAPY
During this treatment, a hypertonic saline solution is injected into the vein through a micro-needle. The saline solution irritates the wall of the vein. The body then begins the natural healing process and the vein begins to decompose, shrink and eventually disappear over the next 4 to 6 weeks. A typical treatment session takes about 25 minutes. Some veins will need more than one treatment.
What are Spider Veins?
Spider veins are those small red, blue, and purple blood vessels that appear frequently on the legs and thighs, and occasionally on the face. The tendency to form spider veins is hereditary, but they are more common in people who stand for long hours, like teachers. You do not need these veins.
What Is Recovery Like?
Most patients report little if any discomfort. Bruises that may appear around the treated area usually disappear after the first week. Some crusting or pigment may take longer. You are encouraged to resume normal activities immediately. Your final results may not be apparent for several months, as it takes time for the body to absorb the collapsed veins. More than one treatment session may be required, depending on your condition and desired results.
